Spherical Analyzers

Optics for X Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry - WDXRF

Spherical analyzers

Spherically bent crystals analyzers are widely used in Synchrotron Facilities and Nuclear Fusion Plasma Physics for outstanding scientific purposes.

Ge(hkl), Si(hkl) and Quartz(hkl) can be used.

AlpyX can provide any value of the cuts from high quality Ge, Si and Quartz.

Spherically bent crystals can produce a correct point to point focusing as long as the value of the Bragg’s angle remain between 65° and close to 90°. It is usable in this wide range of angles without changing the parameters of the optic.

For smaller values of the Bragg’s angle, then a toroidally bent geometry is necessary.

At the contrary of a spherically bent crystal, a toroidally bent crystal is calculated with 2 radii of curvature - one meridional and one sagittal - and works for only one value of the Bragg’s angle.
